Resolvent of Jakarta’s Waste Issue

Jakarta as one of the mist crowded city in the world, produce a lot of waste. Due to the lack of land availability, it is important to have a good waste management system.  The first way of managing waste is through recycling. Recycling is the act of reusing or repurposing an item to extend the use of the product. An example of this would be pencil case made of thrown away household plastics, such as sunlight. Recycling could also be done to other items. For instance, paper, cardboard, boxes or even clothing. Doing this could really reduce the number of waste and help managing it. Another way to manage waste is through separating trash bins. We could separate trash bin the type of the waste, such as wet, dry or recyclable.

There is also another separation of waste such as plastic, paper or can. By doing this, it could ease the process processing the waste and further help recycling. For example, in Universitas Indonesia, the trash bins are separated into wet and dry and it is written down what kind of waste is the dry one and the wet one so that people who does not know what kind of trash that they have, they can put it in a right place.

Moreover, the important thing in good waste management is the mindset of the people themselves. The people of Indonesia still need proper awareness and education which may came from the government. The government needs to socialize the importance of management to people came from all classes and status because often times people who lived in village still throw their garbage away in the river and people still not properly put the trash in the right classification. Another common example is when you walk in the sidewalks of Jakarta we can still see a lot of trash which shows that people still lack consciousness.

In conclusion, waste management could be done through recycling, separation of trash bins and changing people’s mindset. Most importantly, waste management does not only need to be done to create a cleaner surroundings but also to help save the environment as waste is a very big environmental issue that could create disorder in the climate.

Moving the capital city? is it necessary?

Should we really move the capital city? There has been an emerging issue about the Government’s plan to move the capital city of Indonesia from Jakarta to East Kalimantan. Specifically, in between two regions, Kutai Kartanegara and Penajam Paser Utara. This relocation plan has been decided and announced to the public by President of Republic Indonesia, Joko Widodo itself.
