Debating Future Career: YouTuber(s)

The presence of technology changes everything in our life, including the way people make money. Nowadays, there are a lot of new jobs we never thought of exist. The concept of occupation has become a constant topic of debate, in which case, YouTuber as a “real job” in the future. 

Probably these statements sound familiar to you:

“Making video is easy so it shouldn’t be considered as a work. Everyone can buy a camera and record themselves.”

“Recording yourself playing video games for the rest of your life can’t be counted as a job.”

“Everyone able to record their daily activity and publish them online.”

Hey dude, wake up! The world has changed. In the future, having a job doesn’t mean you need to sign a contract, get constant earnings, or going to the office. This concept has even applied since today. Therefore, yes, YouTuber can be considered as an actual future job. YouTube can become a gate for everyone’s success without looking at individual’s background. Look at Rikky Poynter, Jessica Kellgren-Fozard, or Cheyenna Clearbrook. They are a few examples of people who have physical limitations who later gain their success through YouTube platform. Besides, as long as people put an effort by doing a particular work to earn money, it can be called as a job. You might also never think about fake news creator, but they do exist. The same thing happened to YouTuber. 

However, it should be noted that being a YouTuber is not easy at it seems. No one can be influential and popular in a night. It needs creativity, persistence, and commitment to do such thing. Some of us might think everyone can record themselves by using camera, but the fact is, it is not easy to create a content regularly since people can run out of authentic ideas and everyone has ever done it. Moreover, editing a video is not a simple task as well. It wastes a lot of time and energy, unless you hire an editor to do it. You also might think that create a gaming content is effortless since all you have to do is playing video games. In fact, not everyone has the same durability as Jess No Limit, let say. Behind his Ferrari which he bought himself, he has sacrificed a lot of things. Maybe he sacrificed his time with his friends just to push his rank on Mobile Legend, sacrificed his money to buy Mobile Legend’s diamond, or even his bedtime to play. 

On the other side, many people misconceived about being a YouTuber. There is a quote that saying “Life is like a wheel.” Therefore, the goal of being a YouTuber doesn’t just stop until you reach your popularity. Trends shifts at all time. You need to realize that your popularity is just an asset to achieve long-term success. Sooner or later, your fame will be replaced by other rising YouTubers and your content may become less relevant. Thus, you need to find alternatives to maintain your success. Many YouTubers use their ‘current asset’ to create something else (i.e. merchandise, brand, etc). 

As a conclusion, with the rise of technology, YouTuber can be counted as an actual future job since it takes a lot of effort to earn money. Nevertheless, it is important to have a mindset that being a YouTuber is just an acceleration path to reach your permanent success.

Moving the capital city? is it necessary?

Should we really move the capital city? There has been an emerging issue about the Government’s plan to move the capital city of Indonesia from Jakarta to East Kalimantan. Specifically, in between two regions, Kutai Kartanegara and Penajam Paser Utara.
